What do you bring to the environment or situation? Are you "just there" or "hoping you don't get picked". If you are avoiding being noticed or picked for work or groups in class it also means you aren't adding value to your team, class, group, division or neighborhood.
This door swings both ways. Then when rewards, bonuses, accolades or the occassional cutbacks come... "we have to cut back and we can only keep X number of people". You will not be in the "X" group. You won'tprobably won't be "just there" and you may get your wish to not get "picked".
